2008 - The year in Pictures
The year started with the babies. Born on the second day of January. I don’t think we knew at this point just how much joy had entered into our family (even if they were already giving rather dubious finger gestures to the camera).
In early February, Spring was on it’s way and very welcome it was too…
…we just had time for a quick trip to Salzburg, to hang out with Mozart…..
….before Spring arrived properly in the form of a very early Easter.
I got busy in my small crafting room and began working with themes and colours that were quieter and more muted than I had previously worked with.
I made time to give my favourite basket a make-over by adding a new blue coat and a delicious drawstring lining.
Robert and I (my nearly husband at the time) made our annual pilgrimage to Dorset and visited the new River Cottage headquarters. Wonderful day!
And in the garden the syrupy honeysuckle popped out before all too quickly dropping off again.
My home began to get brighter as the Summer months approached…..
…..and wedding plans were being finalised (and bought).
My garden table was given an oilcloth make-over, perfect for long drinks and pots of tea alike….
…..and the Sweet Williams made a delightful object out of three old tin cans.
My top garden gate was ready and awaiting visitors…..
….as was the food.
Before I knew it we had landed in Los Angeles and spent the afternoon at Griffith Observatory staring at the Hollywood sign.
We also made a stop off at Newport beach…..
…..before getting married.
My love.
By the time we had arrived home as newlyweds the Sweet Peas had gotten way, WAY out of control. Well done girls!!!
But the pastel days of Summer were very quickly replaced by the oranges of Autumn….
…..and the consumption of hearty stews.
And then it was Christmas.
I loved 2008. I’m already loving 2009 but 2008 was the year that I married Robert. My best buddy. I’m totally addicted to my husband in an unashamedly co-dependent way. I need to be around his personality, with it’s strength, lack of toxicity and kindness. So 2008 was all about Robert and the two of us getting married. I wonder what 2009’s defining characteristic will be.
