HELLO!
Welcome to the week! Yes, I know it’s Tuesday but I left the posts from Jam Week up for an extra day in case some of you hadn’t been able to check in and see the week in its entirety. I was giving thanks for progress and technology ALL of last week as those articles were published many thousands of miles away from where they were created. Any folk who follow my updates on twitter and Facebook will know that Robert the Husband and I took a week long break to Los Angeles and Las Vegas last week. We’re back now and suffering from a hideous case of jet lag where your eyes sting and you feel slightly shaky. But it was worth it. It was quite simply the best break we’ve ever had. The picture up top was taken when we first arrived in Las Vegas and had been up for a VERY LONG TIME. Hence the glasses (bleary eyeballs) and the jacket (I was too tired to know that it was 112 degrees in the shade).
We ate and drank sugar and fat like idiots and enjoyed every second of it. Robert the Husband made me laugh a great deal by being awfully cheeky and continually poking me in the ear (!!!!!) We lay on the beach during the day and got giddy on Strawberry Mojitos in the evening. Robert and I are very big fans of the States and adore the country. It’s interesting to me, when I look at my website stats and numbers, to see that so many of the folk who check in on my website are from there. While we were away I received an email from a reader asking me to add conversions to my recipes as when I only upload English quantities it can make it hard for folk in the States to follow along.
Well, your wish is my command and we shall certainly be doing that on each and every recipe from now on.
It was also interesting to see just how many of you head straight to the blog pages of my site and search for it online. I have to say that if you’re after the juicy stuff you’re more likely to find it in the other pages of the site. I’m always dropping too much info in to my recipe posts and crafty articles so if you’re waiting for important updates via the blog alone I’m really sorry but you may have missed them along the way.
We tried to come up with a schedule here so that on each and every week day there is a brand new topic being covered. It goes something like this -
Monday = House & Home (including Make-over Monday)
Tuesday = Food & Recipes
Wednesday = The Potting Shed
Thursday = Entertain & Celebrate
Friday = A brand new Craft project or Bake Fest Friday, ‘Something Sweet for the Weekend’
Of course sometimes I’ll throw a spanner in to the works and confuse Jodie completely by announcing a themed week such as Jam Week. We both loved working on that though so I can safely say that there will be more themed weeks a’ comin!
I’ll also interrupt the website schedule occasionally when I write a personal blog, like today.
I know you’ll know exactly what I mean when I say that I’ve come back from our wee break feeling AWESOME!!!! Good lord, if I’d have known that all it would take was a few days of being made to laugh by my husband and bit of vintage clothes shopping in Topanga Canyon to make me feel THIS ALIVE I would have done it a long time ago. Of course all of this inspiration is going to appear as content on this website. So I very much look forward to offering more free downloads, free patterns, some filmed content (I’ve mentioned that before) and a wonderful ride of creativity in the last few months of this year.
It was my birthday while we were away and we went to my favourite restaurant in the world, just a stone’s throw from our hotel in West Hollywood. That evening a gentleman seated at the table next to us with another gentleman, their beautiful wives and another female friend began a conversation. It was great fun to spend time talking to them, they were SO nice and friendly. Complimenting Robert and I, making fun of our accents a little which was very funny indeed and even sending drinks to our table. When they left, a little before us, we were sad to see them go.
It turns out that the paparazzi waiting outside were waiting for them. The two gentlemen were Don Rickles and Bob Newhart. Television legends and both oozing old style Hollywood grace, glamour and charm. Meeting that group of people was the best birthday gift I could have asked for and it felt like that before we knew who they were. Afterwards when the staff were explaining who had sent drinks to our table and telling us that we had in fact been touched by television greatness……well that did it for me. The smiles on our faces lasted until the next morning.
Only in Hollywood!
