Only three days after the new website had gone live Robert & I flew out to the States. Working wirelessly was a godsend and seeing as the break had been booked for a few weeks we had no choice but to go. It was the best thing we ever did.
Apart from the moment when this picture was taken.
You see, I’m not good with tiredness. I go ‘over the edge’ as Robert calls it. Over the edge into an abyss of grumpiness and jet lag is so NOT GOOD!!! We had been up for almost 24 hours and Robert was INSISTING that we go out for dinner to ‘get used to it’. I could barley open my EYES let alone use chopsticks.
But it was worth it to see Las Vegas at night. I LOVE Las Vegas. It’s so non judgmental. And the shopping is fantastic.
This was the next morning. I was no longer over the edge and feeling much chirpier. Off we went to wander the Strip in the morning sun.
Before long we were hankering after breakfast. A BUFFET breakfast!!!
And then a BUFFET lunch!!!! OMG!!!! If I had a dollar for every time Robert and I told each other that it was alright to be eating this much all day long as we were on holiday I could have bought The Bellagio.
Soon however we were off to L.A. My favourite place. We got to indulge in veggie juices and vegan, dairy free, gluten free, taste free, air free, sugar free, food free food in L.A. Good job we ate at the buffet so many times, eh!!!!
I’m kidding. We ate out at some awesome places in L.A.
This was a view from our hotel room window and my heart aches when I look at it.
And here is where we mooch and wander around Barnes & Noble for about eight hours at a time before having a salad free salad.
I’M KIDDING!!!!!!
On my birthday Robert the Husband and I went to Disney. I insisted that Robert wear his badges even though he said they made him feel like he had breasts.
And a day or so later we had a great time on the beach and wandering around the small town of Topanga.
Then it was back to VEGAS BABY!!! The reason I look so uncomfortable in this shot is because it was so hot that my bag was melting in to my arm. I think I had just said something along the lines of “Robert, take the freaking picture and take it NOW or my eyeballs will be dripping out of their sockets and into the pool. I’M HOT”
About five minutes later I left Robert poolside to go to my nice cool room to watch E Television on cable.
We had to come home eventually and it was lovely to see how tall my sunflowers had grown.
We saw the babies again and got to hang with them in the sun. Daisy loves those cushions.
And we went to the polo one sunday morning. The most relaxing sport to watch and my folks loved it.
Eventually we had to admit that the sunshine was a different colour to how it had been just a few weeks prior.
Was summertime coming to an end soon?
The light in the house was softer.
But the real evidence was in the leaves.
Luckily we had one last English Country fair to attend.
Give me a man with a fiddle and I’ll give you my heart.
The kids were free for a little while longer.
But it was time to gather up my possesions and prepare to store them.
A glass of summer wine……
…becomes the last glass as the leaves behind it bow out in a blaze of colour.
Farewell my summer love.
Hello my cosy corner.
