It is ABSOLUTELY impossible for me to walk by vintage kitchenware that still works perfectly well without buying it. Although, having said that, on Saturday I was quoted a ‘greedy’ price for an item having just bought quite a bit from this person. This annoys the heck out of me as I know my stuff and knew this price to be a foolish one. I did not purchase the last item but am instead scouring eBay for one. Which is not as much fun as scouring the shops of Arundel.
Anyhow…..
On Saturday I saw this old mezzaluna sitting atop the chopping board you see in the picture in an antiques hall in the aforementioned castle town, Arundel. If you can roll your r’s when saying the name it sounds rather old fashioned but in a good way.
I came home and began to use it. The determined rocking back and forth of the blade as the sage leaves disappeared beneath it was very therapeutic and I ended up chopping so much I had much more than I needed for my recipe.
This set is a welcome addition to my kitchen and one that shall be put to work often. But it shall not be put away. Nope! It has the privilege of being out and on show and is a wonderful example of beautiful recycling.
I believe there is a holiday approaching that invites people to ask you what gift you would like. I think it lands on the 25th of December. I would recommended a set like this. Vintage or not. It’s a great deal more fun for chopping herbs than ANYTHING electrical.
Looks better on the side of the work top too!
