Ned & Anais – And Now They Are Here!

Ned & Anaïs - Week One - 1

07.10am

“Take one more picture of my tummy before we go in!!!!. I want to remember how big it got.”

Ned & Anaïs - Week One - 1

“Oh God, we’ll be going in soon”

“Are you nervous, hon?”

Ned & Anaïs - Week One - 3

“Yes, a little bit. I’ve suddenly realised that I’m about to be cut open!”

“Don’t worry, love, I’m here and soon they’ll be here”

Ned & Anaïs - Week One - 4

He was right.

Soon they were here and everything, I mean EVERYTHING, fell in to place.

The midwife asked us what we had decided to call the babies. Robert and I were still a tiny bit undecided at this point so she said that it was perfectly fine with her to write up their wrist and ankle bracelets simply with Twin One & Twin Two.

We made the name decision very, very quickly after that which was good for us as we needed a kick to get us to decide.

Ned Xavier Roman.
I’d wanted a boy called Ned who looked like my husband for what seems like a lifetime….and I got one. Although he seems to look like a lot of other people too at this point at least I have a son called Ned.

Xavier (Za-Vee-Ay)
I love this name and had called it as a first name many times but we slotted it in as a second name. Thank you Robert for going with this one.

Roman
I wanted something that sounded like his Daddy’s name but wasn’t a direct copy. Roman does it for us and we couldn’t resist it.

Ned is so solid sounding that I’m glad he has something a little ‘fancier’, (can I say that?), in there too!

Anaïs Belle Darling

Anaïs (An-Nye-Is)
We came up with this way back in January and it’s been bandied about since then. Always popping up, again and again.  Everyone we have come in to contact with has mispronounced it or asked us how to say it but we knew that. I’ve always loved the song ‘Morning Song’ by Jewel and the wonderful line “You can be Henry Miller and I’ll be Anaïs Nin”. The way the name sounds so feminine and fresh and beautiful. And Anaïs Nin herself!!! What can I say. Whoever says ”Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage.” is OK by us.

Belle – Because she charmed Robert & I from the moment I felt her kick me in that restaurant all those months ago as I ate my Goats Cheese Salad (I’ll never forget that salad)

Darling – Because she’s our darling.

Ned & Anaïs - Week One - 5

Several of you told me just how good those first slices of toast would be. You were not wrong and I wanted to remember EVEN them!

Ned & Anaïs - Week One - 6

“Hello, love. Mummy’s here and she’s not going anywhere. You’ll always be safe”

Ned & Anaïs - Week One - 7

“Hello, love. Daddy’s here and he’s not going anywhere. You’ll always be safe”

Have I ever mentioned that my husband is my hero?
NO?

He is, and although I didn’t think it possible before all of this, I love him in greater measure now than I did before the babies arrived. A C-Section is hardcore, coupled with an infection and some leaky spinal fluid and you are almost left being able to do NOTHING. Which is where Robert stepped in to the gap AND FILLED IT!

Ned & Anaïs - Week One - 8

Hello, boys!

Ned & Anaïs - Week One - 9

Anaïs, could you refrain from sucking your brother’s head?

On second thoughts, don’t bother, it’s possibly the most enchanting thing I’ve ever seen!

Thank you so much for all of your messages, emails and gifts. We are truly blessed to have people out there that are so caring and thought of us at this time. We’re getting around to our Thank You notes slowly but surely.

So, that’s the end of my Twin Pregnancy Diary. Thank you for following with me and for all of your amazing thoughts and comments. It has been wonderful writing it all down and I’m pleased that Robert and I have a record of all that occured.

I don’t think that’s the last you’ll see or hear from The Meatballs. I’ve already plugged my external hard-drive in to my Mac to store all the extra pictures. I’ve loved keeping a diary and I’m sure the first year of motherhood holds lots of surprises, adventure and stories………….

Till next time!
