I’ve always had a hard time deciding on what my signature smell is. I jump from perfume to perfume and often come back to the same two or three but I don’t have a smell that I have worn for years and years and would call my own, yet!
The same can’t be said for my lipstick

I remember when MAC was first launched in this country way back in the nineties. It was only available in London and the Spice Lip liner was used by all of the original Supermodels, Linda, Christie et al….
I had read in ELLE magazine how all of the staff who worked the MAC counters were all trained make-up artists and would actually spend time with you deciding on the best products for your skin, colouring and look you were wanting to achieve. This was very exciting as I was used to rather frumpy looking girls behind the counters with foundation that made their faces look like Digestive biscuits and their necks like bottles of milk.
“Isn’t it all meant to BLEND?” I would ask myself as I scurried away from their clutches and ran off in to the street. MAC and the promise of real artists selling you their wares was too much to resist and I was straight on a train to London.
MAC were also eco-friendly and encouraged their customers to recycle the packaging that the make-up came in. I remember duly taking back all of my empty blusher and eye shadow cases in return for a free lipstick. An exciting day as I was a drama student at the time and very short on cash.
I’ve tried other lipsticks before, even other MAC lipsticks, but I always, always come back to the same shade.

Captive.

Being a die hard products girl the joy I experience when opening a brand new MAC’ Captive’ lippy is unconfined. And this joy has heightened since having my babies and using my wrinkly belly as a stress ball. It goes on to my lips like a dream and stays on. It works out for me much better than the sticky lip glosses as, although they look delicious, I have long hair and the wind will invariably blow my hair on to my lips and I’ll have to peeeeeel it all off. Taking any trace of lip gloss off of my lips and trailing it up across my cheeks and landing somewhere by my eyebrows.
So I stick to my MAC. My buddy MAC. My stalwart, friend and favourite shade. If only they had a fragrance I could be as loyal to!
What’s your favourite lipstick? I’d love to know as I’m a fan of all things dress-up. Not only that but I’m thinking of having a giveaway soon so I want to know all about your favourite make-up.
We’ve also added a chat & reply function to the comments section so I may be popping up and having a chin wag with some of your answers, if that’s OK?
I love you all lots,
Cherry

I tend to wear Lipgloss when I’m going out as I like the shiny look – but then again I don’t have long hair to get stuck on it.
Ohhhh….a possible giveaway involving make – up!!! Love it
I love wearing Max Factor make-up but have a few bits from Clinique and MAC!
I wear that shade too & love my MAC make-up. I don’t leave the house without my Lippy.
Cherry I am loving the Search Fo Chic – can’t wait to see what comes next!!
I always wondered what shade you wore Cherry – might have to go and try MAC now!
Hi Cherry. All I want to know is……How do you do that gorgeous hairstyle in your peach cobbler video ?????
I wish I had a one signature fragrance too – I just seem to drift from one to another & never really settle.
I have recently started using bareMinerals and love it.
I have really pale skin so love to wear red lipsticks for the dramatic effect!
I hate it when you see ladies behind make up counters & they look orange – or like Jordan! If the person who is serving me has awful make up then I don’t like to take their advice on colours etc. It’s harsh I know…..
Ah Spice Lipliner, I’m starting to wonder if it’s my 1990′s equivalent of women who grew up in the early 80′s and still wear blue eyeliner??. I still love Spice and wear it with a Bobbi Brown lip colour called ‘Nude’ or just with a touch of carmex in the winter.
But now I’ve read this I think I need to book myself in for a new Mac makeover, it’s been a while (well about 10 years) and maybe I need to look at my routine and what I wear. Thanks for the inspiration
I don’t really wear lipsticks or lip gloss – I just wear Vaseline lip balm in the rose colour
I love Clinique foundation & Maybelline eyeshadows too
I love Clarins cleansing milk, Benefit tinted moisturiser and chanel nail varnish, rouge noir and any red nail polish. I dont wear lipstick or gloss but carmex lip balm as i love the tingly lip feeling!!
And I adore Lush Bath bombs or bubble bars for my bath and Oscar loves the ickle baby bot bath bomb. Funky robots made from natural products, lots of lavender means at least 12 hours sleep from him!
I know it’s sad but I really like Heather Shimmer by Rimmel, I have worn it since school and now I’m in my 20′s I still continue to wear it. I guess it’s just my shade. I love the colour Captive though…
Sophie
Ahhh, Mac make-up, where do I start?
Their new Alice & Olivia nail varnish, the gorgeous shades of ALL their eye shadows, their Studio Fix Foundation, their Lipglass glosses… the list is endless, I love it all and WANT it all. Huge fan.

I always look at MAC but have still NEVER purchased.
I use Bobby Brown. Love it.
You know I love products as much as you.
I will definitely try out MAC one day x x
Lip Gloss = Bleughhhhh – I too hate that sticky stuff which hair is ALWAYS attracted to.
I kind of use a few different colours depending on the mood or occasion!
Hi Cherry…
thanks to my extensive research on how I can best help my Endo naturally (as opposed to the chemically-induced “psuedo menopauses” and “psuedo pregnancies” the doctors seem to love prescribing for me) I have read far too many articles suggesting that the chemicals in certain make-up and beauty products would be best avoided, which of course makes finding make-up difficult. I do wear make-up, but not regularly, and was over the moon when a US friend sent me some samples of Bare Escentuals make-up powders that I could use without worrying so much. What I loved most about them, though, was how easy they were to apply… I was always terrified of getting it wrong and looking like one of those orange ladies behind the make-up counters, but with the mineral make-ups the colours are much subtler and it is almost impossible to overdo the colour!! And, with the powders, you can use them all over the face including the lips by simply adding some powder to some lip balm (sticky, yes, but a good alternative to lipstick and great for me as lipstick tends to dry my already cracked lips!)
I noticed in Boots the other day a new company, Une Beauty, who seem to have similar products that are based on minerals rather than chemicals and highly processed colours… I think their products may be on my Christmas list this year
)
Oh, and before I forget, my favourite colour was “Amazing Amanda” ;o) not just for the name but also because it was so gorgeous…
I’ve always used Clinique – from the days when I was younger & used to steal my mums as I couldn’t afford to buy my own! Because I’ve always been happy with it I’ve never thought to switch to a different brand
I also use MAC, I love the Limited edition Lady GaGa shade – Viva Glam GaGa. I go for pink shades as reds don’t really suit my skin tone.
I love MAC products too. I don’t wear much lipstick but I love the eyeshadows & foundation.
I love bright red lipsticks – & I mean BRIGHT red. I don’t really stick to one brand as I just grab colours I like.
I don’t really stick to one shade – or brand – of lippy as it depends on my mood. I never wear lipgloss though as I hate the sticky feeling!
Cherry, it is divine! I have another one called Utter Fun which is a bright cherry colour but I think that was limited edition.
Swoon I love make up!
Chloe, I am addicted to Chanel nail polish!
I am such a product girl too! Anything in the Chanel product range and I also love Jemma Kidd make-up.

My beloved commented on my MAC lipstick army just last night – I am loyal to the brand but not one colour! I think Lickable might just be may favoutite it’s a super bright fucshia hmmm but then again I love Viva Glam Cyndi….I could go on forever!
Bright lipstick rocks I am so not a neutral or lipgloss fan.
I am going to have to try the Lickable shade, if only for the name! Cx
Utter Fun? I love the names.
