Will You Join Me For Coffee?

I now have a comments facility. Leave your question or comment at the end of each post.

Would you like to join me for a coffee?

I’d love the company.

I do this from time to time. When you work and live in the same place, home, you can find yourself cooped up in one space for long periods. Yesterday, as I had to accept that September was actually here, I decided to take myself out for some inspiration. I knew that if I was to walk outside and grab a coffee in my local town then the inspiration for the coming weeks would fall in to my lap. It sounds simple because it is. I get so much from the outdoors. So much from the changing seasons, whether I like the changes or not.

And I get so much from coffee and chocolate so everyones a winner, baby!

I walked with the babies along the streets. Past wide open spaces of lush green

Past rows of old houses. Cosy houses that have seen many Summers and many Winters. These are houses that are looked after. They have well tended gardens and someone inside of them loves them and cares for them.

This is the way I feel about home. I love it and care for it as best I can. I want it to be open to everybody. Sometimes I don’t manage to do all that I want to do but my heart is there and my energy will follow eventually I’m sure.

But for now I just want to wander.

Along narrow streets with even narrower doors.

Double buggies are not fans of such narrow streets but we manage and arrive in town in one piece.

I love this town so much. I love the fact that there is a vintage Bentley parked on the side of the street.

Suddenly I’m in a period film. Transported by seeing this car and the feelings that follow. I knew this would happen. Inspiration is everywhere.

I push the buggy past the car and continue to head towards my coffee and chocolate heaven.

Bunting lines the ceiling of the streets and beautiful boutiques do a brisk trade.

I pass property people who are “passionate about property”. I find looking in to agents windows so exciting. Almost like Property Porn. Cooing and sighing over the houses for sale and then remembering that I’m not an oil baron and that it’ll be some time before the removal men need to be called. But looking in the windows is free so I’ll continue to get my kicks.

The babies and I round the corner and spot our destination. Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

My coffee and Reese’s cups are brought over to me by the sweetest of staff and I settle back in to the delicious leather armchairs to sip and suck. I don’t want that to sound too rude but I sip my coffee and suck my Reese’s cups. I take a small bite and suck all the chocolate off, revealing the peanut butter inside.

Yum.

As I sit I stare at the glass cases containing all sorts of treats. Like edible jewels on sale and ready to be scoffed.

So much to choose from where do I start. Perhaps I shouldn’t, I still haven’t finished sucking my Reese’s!!!!!

My body relaxes and I begin to look at the table in the middle of the room. Covered in bright candy goodness and waiting to bought as a gift or a treat. My mind, almost reluctantly, begins to edge towards Christmas and I think of the colours I’d like to do it in this year. I have an idea but for now I want to finalise my Halloween projects and enjoy the rest of the Summer sun.

I’m so lucky to have this delightful hub of edible colour right on my doorstep. To rest in, drink coffee in and be inspired in.

A child’s dream place. The place they want to be taken to after school for a treat with Mummy. A place they’ll gather at when they are teenagers and with friends. Looking at boys/girls and hoping that the one they think they love with all of their heart will skip or lollop in.

Do you remember those times?

Those thoughts of “will he come?” “Please let him come” “I heard him say to my friend that he’d come”

“HE CAME!!!!!!”

I thought that about Robert the Husband and the night we got together. As I was walking to the venue that we’d be spending the evening in I hoped somewhere in the far reaches of mind that Robert would come.

And he did.

And now he is my husband and father to my babies.

Is that funny, Ned?

Yes, Mummy, that’s funny. You and Daddy kissing…BLLLEEEUUUGGGHHHHH!

Oh Nedlet, what am I to do with you?

I’ll just have to love on you until I figure it out.

When my coffee cup has been drained and I know that I need to prise myself out of my comfy soft brown leather nook I take the babies and wander out in to the late afternoon sun.

What a lovely sky.

And as I push my babies up the hill towards home I feel full. Full of inspiration for the coming weeks and certain that many of the ideas will make an appearance here on my site. My notebook is full of scribbles and my tummy full of coffee and chocolate.

Everything that we want or need is out there, ready for us to believe in and claim it.

I’ll tell my babies that as they grow.

Reach for what you truly believe in, I’ll tell them. If you can see it in your mind then you can make it possible.

I think they’ll laugh at me to begin with. And then I think they’ll go forward. And as long as they’ll occasionally take me back to our spot on the brown leather chairs for coffee, to tell me all about their adventures, I’ll be happy.

I love you all and thank you for reading.

What a beautiful town! when I eventually move away from Brighton I want to make sure I stay somewhere full of colour and character – doesn’t it make everything much more pleasurable?

Totally agree with you about the Property Porn… I have a terrible habit of perving on Rightmove almost every day…

Oh Cherry, that was a wonderful post- we only have a Nero here in Romsey for posh coffee so i think my mission this autumn is to explore the ‘old fashioned’ kind of tea rooms and see what they tempt me in with!
Ned is very sweet, what a lovely smile! And-can i just commend you on A-getting into town with two babies and B-managing to actually enjoy your mmmmmm coffee/cups moment! Well done you-that IS a huge achievement in itself-and fab photos to boot? WaHoo! xxx

What a lovely post, and what an amazing coffee shop! We are lucky to have a god coffee shop here that offers dark hot chocolate and dark chocolate mochas (oooh how I love them) and although their treat selection is not as nice, you should see their toilet: it has fancy wallpaper and two shelves full of pampering goodness with two bottles of perfume, 2 types of handwash and at least half a dozen different hand creams and body butters to choose from… heaven!

I’m glad you got the inspiration you were looking for and I can’t wait to see what it all turns in to xx
