Hello! Welcome to Narnia (West Sussex style).

Today I was meant to be doing a ‘Search for Chic – My Journey Back from Maternity Wear’ post. I wanted to show you my  boots close up as a couple of folk have asked about them on the comments and I’ve had some emails about them.

All was well out in the snow yesterday. Robert was working from home as we’re rather stranded due to the snow. When he took his lunch break I asked him to nip outside with me and snap some shots of my boots as they are pretty awesome in weather like this. In fact they’re great all year round and are just as good to wear with denim cut-off’s in the sun as they are with thermal long johns in the snow.

So there we were in the garden.

Me : Have you got my boots in?

Robert the Husband : Yes, sort of. Move back under the beech. I’ll get a better shot there.

Me : What about now? I’m chilly.

Robert the Husband : The snow’s deep there. I can’t really see your boots, hon!

Me : What the ………..

Robert the Husband : *hee hee*

Me : Don’t laugh!

Me : It’s gone down my neck, bloody snow.

Robert the Husband : * guffaw *

Me : I’m not playing anymore. That’s the second time that’s happened today. It happened earlier and I got soaked and you laughed then too! I can’t keep getting wet.

Robert the Husband: * stifling laughter * Hon, the house is the other way.

Me : Don’t speak, Robert. It’s best if you just don’t speak.

Robert : Hon? ……………………………………………………………..Silence……………………
……………………………………………………………..Silence…………………………………………
………………………………………..Silence………………………………………………………………

…………………..Silence……………………………………………………………………………………

Me : I’m back!

Robert: Clearly I married you for your wit and acting skills (!!!!) *oh dear *

Me : Lets go and see if the babies are awake. They need to be out here.

Oh yes, sorry,  my boots are Dubarry and are the best!!!!

Have a wonderful weekend and stay safe and warm. Unless you are my brother who is currently enjoying the heat in Brazil * jammy bugger*

I love you & thank you for reading
Cherry x

  1. Love the pictures. And the commentary alongside. Very Amusing.

Thought that as you love your Dubarry’s you might like our latest development – Dubarry Boot Videos. Galways, Kilternans and more.

An example is http://tinyurl.com/ahume-dubarry to view just click on the camera icon. We would love to hear your thoughts. BTW, we now have the Kilternan in Black and we deliver…

Awesome boots! Are those the galways? Did you feet stay dry and warm in the deep snow?

    Hi Cherry,

I read that just like me you are a bit obsessed with Christmas! I have recently joined a class by Shimelle Laine (you might have heard about her) called Journal your Christmas. I thought it might be something you will enjoy especially as it is your babies first Christmas etc. It has already started on the 1st Dec, but there are quite a few of us already behind! lol!

Hmmm….Cherry, love those photos. Those boots are top choice! It’s so important to have good clothing in the winter. Have you ever heard the Norwegian saying…”There is no bad weather, only bad clothes!” That is so true.

  6. Marilyn says:

Cute pictures! There’s nothing like the feeling of icy snow going down your back. lol

The boots are fabulous, and that pink scarf is yummy.

It’s fairly warm here in Dallas, in fact my roses are still blooming, but seeing a fresh snowfall around Christmas…it’s special!

Fabulous! Boots, snow, scarf, snow, coat, snow, ear muffs, smile and snow!

  8. Sienna says:

Cherry, those boots are fabulous. Do you know whether there is a Dubarry shop in London? I’m going to Switzerland for Christmas and need some classy looking footwear. Sienna.

I just figured out I can get Dubarry in Canada! Yay!

Have already bought Dubarry boots for one of my daughtes for Christmas after seeing yours. I know she’ll love them. I think I might invest in a pair myself if this weather keeps up. Have a lovely day in Narnia and a big hug to the babies. I missed them today.

  12. Susan says:

    Hi Cherry,

How do you look so glamorous while having two young babies? I look shocking most mornings. You really are a marvel. You must have whatever it is you have bottled. Yours, Susan, Cornwall.x

Hey Cherry, Martha here. It’s 5.45am New York time and I’d WIDE AWAKE .. so thought I’d see what good old England is up to in the Snow. Your place sure looks like a scene from Narnia. What a magical place for you and your family to live. Much love, Martha. x

  16. Fabulous photos, it’s lovely to see some snow. We seem to be the only part of the UK who don’t have any! Thanks for sharing :)

  17. jasmine cohen says:

Your post made me laugh today Cherry. Hope the snow down your neck wasn’t too awful. Hee. Hee. I do like your boots. I’m going on the Dubarry website right now. Very stylish. So bored with wellies. Stay warm and look forward to your next post. jasmine. x

  18. Victoria says:

thank you cherry….beautiful pics! where did you get the beautiful jumper you were wearing at lunch and your lovely scarf too?

  19. Amanda says:

Tim and I had to search the whole town for some wellies since the snow came as I only have one pair of sensible shoes and so does he (both work shoes), so we were desperate. Thankfully he found me some snazzy blue ones with pink butterflies on (yay).

Reminds me of Russia… I bought special snow boots, then ended up diving into a huge snow drift, right up to my chest, in order to avoid being run over by a tractor that was clearing the road and didn’t see me in time. The boots never did recover and I had wet feet for the rest of my time there *brrrrrrrrr*
