‘Making’ Our Way

Dear friends

Thank you so very much for staying in touch with me over this time in our lives. I have emails checking in on us and sending their thoughts, I’ve had Facebook postings and Tweets. Voice mails have pinged and voices have been heard on the line. It’s the voices that get me. My friend Sam left me a voice message the other day and I cried because I missed him and I love him and I knew that he would have known exactly what to do and exactly what to say had he been with me. It would have been incredibly rude (insulting to me, most certainly), possibly filthy and very, very funny. I’ve always been in love with irreverence and this is why Sam and I get along. But what has been so extraordinary are the messages from people that I don’t know. The ones from miles away who can feel what we are going through like they are going through it themselves.

Last Thursday Robert had a biopsy performed on his Bone Marrow. We are still waiting for the final results that will tell us if a transplant is needed. He is being transferred to another hospital today, which is strange as I liked knowing where he was, and it is a germ free unit. Oh dear.

I don’t know. Neither of us know. We’re just taking it moment by moment.

The wonderful thing is that he feels better.
Random, no???
He has said on many occasions that he feels like he could get in the car and drive home. His consultant narrows her eyes at this and laughs nervously. Needless to say he’s stayed put. But he’s smiling a lot more and we’re having ‘real’ conversations on SKYPE now. What I mean by ‘real’ is that if he annoys me he’s well enough for a good telling off. *oops!!*

Something else that has made Robert smile and me grin A LOT is this…….

I have a column.

Each month I shall be writing my diary on the back page of Making Magazine. The back page is my favourite page in most magazines to be honest so I’m really, really excited about this. It means that I get to write (which I love to do) take photos (which I love to do) and contribute craft projects to the magazine also ( you already know I love a good craft project).

It feels so great to have something positive happen and this in turn gives us a wee push in the right direction and helps us to believe for total healing……very soon!

Thank you to Sian, my editor, for asking me to do this and to the staff of Making magazine. I love the magazine and I’m honored to be doing this.

OK, I’m sending out the best vibes now for Robert to be coming home soon. He has said, against all the odds to be honest, that it’ll be this Thursday. Who am I to argue?

Speak soon.

I love you all terrifically!

Cherry x
