Hello!
This morning has already been one of those mornings that I love and it’s only 08.46am. I slept on top of the covers last night due to the heat, I ran out the door in shorts, a t-shirt and birks and drove to my mother in law’s in the sun with the window down. That’s the kind of morning I love. There is freedom in donning shorts and a t-shirt as opposed to layer upon layer of thermals. I was dropping my twins off at their grandma’s as I have a meeting in London today (my EBook is published tomorrow) so this post is short but I just wanted to check in with you all because I found the responses to the Edamame Giveaway so revealing.
It’s important that we all maintain our individuality, I get that and I know it’s vital, but I also take great comfort from occasionally being reminded that we are, in fact, all very much alike. The answers to the question “What do you love most about the summertime?” elicited responses that I found myself agreeing with every single time. There were themes that ran through each answer that I could relate to.
Fond memories, the warmth on our faces, the freedom, the lightness, the food, the company, the fun and the laughter, the smell of cut grass, being outside, blue skies.
Every single thing had a simplicity to it, didn’t cost that much money and more often than not involved spending time, relaxing, with people we love.
There’s something in that, folks. I know it.
It would be too simplistic to say that all of our troubles would melt away were we to have a BBQ every weekend. But what those BBQ’s may do is to give us a store of good memories and thoughts that enable us to counteract the bad and the stressful. It’s not a tested theory, just a thought.
So as I head off today to my fancy meeting I want you all to know that I take great comfort and solace in the fact that we are all very much alike. We have the same wants and desires deep down and they are simple and true.
And there’s strength in numbers.
I love you and thank you for reading. See you tomorrow with my first EBook under my belt.
Cherry x

I love what you wrote, Cherry and also the wonderful responses being posted here.
“It would be too simplistic to say that all of our troubles would melt away were we to have a BBQ every weekend.” I like that thought!
Somewhat in reference to that quote, I once read something to the effect that every world leader should be required to quietly hold a new born baby in their arms for 10 minutes, each morning.
That’s such a simple yet very profound thought!

What you have written makes me feel yes it’s all worth it. I have been cleaning every corner of my house for most of the day. We are having my cell social tonight and I like everything to be wonderful for everybody. I go to so many houses where people just don’t care what you think and those houses are not welcoming at all. No effort goes into an untidy house so it reflects on your mood. People always enjoy my home and the food and they go away blessed and its that that makes the effort worth it. We all love comfort, beauty, good food, friends, conversation and so the list goes on. It doesn’t cost anything to clean your house and even cheaper to sit out on the lawn. Even pizza and salad served with love is cheap enough for us all to afford.
Yes, I love summer! I think I need one about now. Need to relax and recharge.
I completely agree with you Cherry. I might not have copious amounts of money to lavish on the kids but I am always trying to think of ways to create lovely memories for them to treasure forever such as going to the beach, flying a kite, sitting down with them and reading a story. All things that cost next to nothing. They still moan about wanting the lastest this, that or the other but I think they will realise when they are older that life is about so much more.
Excited about this EBook, I really can’t tell you how much! x
Cherry, if only the folks who hold the reins of power in our countries could just remember that! Having an international BBQ every weekend might solve a lot of the world’s problems, and give all of us a peaceful night’s sleep.
I know, I know…but I do love rose-colored glasses, and refuse to take mine off!
What good advice! Think I’ll dust off the mini barbecue for the upcoming holiday weekend. I don’t use it often enough even though it seems to make a simple meal festive.
I had a chuckle re the BBQ’s – over here in OZ the land of BBq’s, life is not made simpler by them . . . but I did think how british it is of you to think this when the weather is so much nicer in summer! Its something I uswed to think when I lived there too!
We have too much of a summer here nd I can guarantee it – we all long for the winter weather and some relief, and all our troubles melting away by a warm fire and being cosy with a good book!
I think variety is the spice of life!
Fabulous and simplistic, just as it should be ,thanks Cherry x
