That’ll Be Christmas

‘That’ll Be Christmas’ by Thea Gimore

Rain falling and a chance of snow
Jona Lewie on the radio
French beer and mistletoe
That’ll be Christmas

Cars queuing on the edge of town
Afternoon with the blinds pulled down
It’s just the way the year goes round
That’ll be Christmas

I was going to head for high ground
Just forget it all
But the line’s busy I can’t make that call
Oh no.

Join the others in the bar by ten
Peace and goodwill to men
Me missing you again
That’ll be Christmas

A tired waiter in a stupid hat
Muddy boots on the welcome mat
You just can’t say no to that

Hot wine and a Christmas tree
The Sound of Music and the family
Faith hope and gluttony
That’ll be Christmas

There’s a choir of angels
A choir of soaks
And there’s drunk relations telling dirty jokes
Oh no

So I’ll join the others in the bar by ten
Peace and goodwill to men
Me missing you again
That’ll be Christmas

It’s gonna be me missing you again
That’ll be Christmas
That’ll be Christmas
That’ll be Christmas

There are a few bits to do, the table to finish and some food that either needs to be baked, cooked or just prepared. But today and tomorrow are my most favourite days of the whole year. Thank you so much for reading this year. It’s been quite a ride. Have a wonderful, peaceful, FUN Christmas and I’ll see you in 2012 with my Word for the Year and 2011 in Pictures.

I love you and wish you all a very Merry Christmas.

Cherry x

Lovely photos. Your decorating is beautiful. I love the arrangements in different colour schemes from the traditional, especially like the lemon, lime and orange tones. They look so fresh. Can’t believe I’m saying that as I’m a lover of pink!
May your Christmas be joyful and with a peace that carries you all on into and through the new year.

As ever your blog is beautiful and inspired. Personally can’t wait to say goodbye to 2011 and welcome in 2012. This time of year always reminds me of a classic T S Eliot quote:

“For last year’s words belong to last year’s language
And next year’s words await another voice.
And to make an end is to make a beginning.”

    ‘Cherry’ Christmas everyone!

Thank you Cherry, your house looks beautiful, I really must invest in more candles, I’m beginning to think there’s no such thing as too many.

I hope you all have a lovely Christmas and I wish you health and happiness for 2012, it’s going to be a great year.xx

    merry christmas cherry,
beautiful as always, I love today and the next 2 days, Christmas Eve, when all is really calm, everything wrapped and under the tree or delivered, and food prepared or cooked and baked…candles glow, fairy and tree lights twinkle, a warm mince pie and a drink then later off to midnight mass in the village and then home to a hot drink before falling into a deep sleep in a bed made with fresh linen…bliss!
and Christmas Day, a special day already, but also my daughters birthday, so even more so, I was truly blessed 26 years ago..
I wish you, Robert, the cutie twins and all the family a very merry christmas and a wonderful 2012 filled with laughter, fun and love…
And I would so watch a very cherry christmas!!!! xxxxxx
