Christmas Crafts - Colour not Complexity

Christmas Crafts - Colour not Complexity

Christmas Candy Bags 1

I have to say that the build up to this year’s Christmas has been my absolute favourite…EVER! I’m here at my computer with The Priests version of ‘O Holy Night’wafting out from my iTunes player and all is well with the world.
Well of course all is not as well everywhere and I regularly find my self sobbing when they show footage of the armed services abroad at Christmas or the outbreak of cholera in Zimbabwe. But it’s often a sense of gratitude, while experienced on one’s comfy sofa amidst safety and warmth, that prompts folk to do what they can, in their own way, to make some sort of difference. I know that happened to me and luckily I have a husband who is already a paid up member of so many wonderful organizations - Amnesty, RSPCA to name only two, so I knew my thoughts would be greeted with encouragement.

ANYWAY, apart from urging you to download The Priests version of ‘O Holy Night’ , as it really is one of the best, I’d also like to say that this will be my last ‘Christmas - How To’ for this current year. I will certainly be posting bloggy type posts about the amount of Quality Street being eaten etc, but there comes a time when you have to stop fiddling and rest within the grotto that is now your house.

I made these hanging gift bags last year and this is how -

  • I spread a little glue on to the front of the bag ( bought from my local art shop) and sprinkled glitter and sequins onto the glue.
  • I tied a piece of ribbon and a small bell onto the handle of the bag
  • I filled with candy cane and Quality Street
  • I hung them on to the tree

Jeez, perhaps one day my crafting will become super complicated and elicit “Oooohs & Ahhhhs” but I seriously doubt that.
I really believe that Christmas and how we decorate for it has so much more to do with the colours used and the textures we surround ourselves with. These are great for making with wee children and I’ve seen first hand how they marvel at their talent upon seeing the finished product. Especially when they are filled with goodies and passed around.

Have a terrific Monday and stay safe. If you are struggling right now, then know that it WILL get better. It has to, it’s a law that life is cyclical. If you are having a rich and wonderful time, shout it from the rooftops. I love to see happy people.
