A Little Taste Of Things To Come – Dry Your Apples Now!

Apples - October 09 - Cherry Menlove

I find it really exasperating when I see a project that I’d like to do for myself in a magazine and I find out that the preparation for it should have started weeks ago.

What’s the point in that? It’s simply frustrating for the reader.

It evokes sympathy in me for the monthly publications because occasionally an article or feature will appear to be out of date by the time the magazine has been published.

This is the when the beauty of online sources really come in to their own.

With this in mind I can tell you that Wednesday , October 21st is Apple Day and I shall be publishing my Apple Day project on that very day.

Apple day is predominantly celebrated in the United Kingdom but having done a bit of research on this celebration I notice that it’s taking off ALL OVER!!!! Come on, join in.

So, what you need to do in prep for taking part in this Apple Day project of mine is…….

  • buy several bags of apples.
  • slice them up, not too thin, not too thick and
  • place them on a trivet, on a baking tray in the oven on a low temperature for several hours.

The effect you’re after is one where the apple slices are no longer juicy but not crispy either. Bendy I would say is the best state for the apple slices.

This project is one that will last you for years and I highly recommend spending the time drying the slices. You’ll need about thirty apples in total.

Is it raining where you are?

It is here. I have my Uggs on for the first time.

Eeeeekkkk, it’s clearly that time again!!
