- 10 pieces of black sparkly felt ( EACH measuring 9 x 12 inches)
- 1 yard (91 cm x 91 cm) of your chosen fabric, you could also use 1 metre depending on your fabric print (I used Alexander Henry's 'Bewitched' pin-up girls fabric)
- A piece of cardboard to make a triangular shape (my triangles measured 8x11 inches)
- Thread to match your fabric (I used black)
- 5 meters of your chosen colour of ribbon
- Pinking shears
- Craft glue (if necessary)
- Sewing machine (but this bunting can also be made by hand)
Bewitched By Bunting This Halloween
Halloween is fast approaching and although I love and adore decorating with pumpkins and gourds I also wanted to go slightly off piste and inject a little bit of sexy kitsch into All Hallows Eve this year.
Most halloween crafts can be a little ghoulish, mainly because that is what they are meant to be, but I wanted to do something a little different but still on the halloween theme. Hence this bewitching, burlesque style bunting. It really is all about the farbric used, as bunting itself is easy to make …. as you’ll see!
The fabric was purchased in a large piece – our piece was 91 cm x 91 cm – with a view to making each of those pretty little ladies one of the pieces on my halloween bunting. Ha!
- I started by measuring the height of each of the ladies
- Then I made a triangular cardboard template the same size as the ladies which measure 8 x 11 inches
- I cut each of the triangular shapes out of the fabric using pinking shears
- Once all of the triangles have been cut set them to one side
- Use the same cardboard template and pin it to one of the black felt pieces
- Cut around the template using the pinking sheers
- Un-pin the cardboard from the felt
- Place one of the fabric triangles onto the triangular black piece of felt and marry up the edges (the felt will become the backing of the triangular fabric bunting piece)
- Once in place, pin the two pieces of fabric together.
- Machine the piece of fabric and felt together
- Repeat with the other nine pieces of fabric and felt that make up your string of bunting
- Decide which order you would like your bunting pieces to be displayed in
- Take your ribbon and lay it out onto a table or floor area
- Place the bunting pieces onto the ribbon, spacing them evenly apart (I positioned mine 2 inches apart and had about 130cm of ribbon left at either end for tying the bunting up)
- Once you are happy that the pieces are in place correctly, pin them to the ribbon
- Sew or glue the bunting pieces to the ribbon
Hang your bunting in your desired spot (preferably where EVERYONE will see it)
WooHaHaHa!!!!!
Love, Love, Love it!!
Any excuse to decorate.

Hi Marcy,
Thanks for your comment, we love this fabric too! We actually bought the fabric on ebay and it’s by a designer called Alexander Henry, the fabric is called “Bewitched.”
Hope this helps and enjoy making your bunting.
