To finish up what I’m sure has been a long week for many of you I’m leaving you with a lovely Christmas craft that is so simple in its design and appearance but looks delicious hanging up in a simple arrangement.

Whole cranberries come in my absolute favourite shade of red. A blue/red that shines and screams “it’s the most wonderful time of the year!!”. So to use them all over the house at this time is not a crime but simply a necessity. Prepare to see these juicy red orbs pop up again in my home before Christmas in another guise.

This project is very simple so I’m not going to complicate it with lots of steps but simply tell you what to do. If you don’t mind, of course!! ;-)

  • Using wire that is approximately 0.7mm thick prepare three rings, in three different sizes.
  • One small, one medium and one large.
  • Thread the cranberries on to the rings leaving a gap at the top and the bottom.
  • Twist the wire together to seal the ring.
  • Cover the wire gaps in ivory satin ribbon and attach a hanging loop from the top of the cranberry ring

  • Join the rings together by wrapping a length of ribbon around the bottom of the small ring and the top of the medium ring.
  • To join the large ring wrap a length of ribbon around the bottom of the medium ring and the top of the large.

  • Cut three lengths of ribbon
  • Make three bows
  • Stick the bows on to the gaps at the top of each ring to hide the joins

You can make your garland as long or as short as you like and you don’t have to join them to hang vertically. You can create a horizontal garland and place it above the mantle or door.

Cranberries are awfully pretty, you know. They seem to light up the space that they are put in. This is a nice quality to have and for that I appreciate them.

God bless the cranberry at Christmas and long may they reside in the home!

Ha!

Have a wonderful weekend. We’re off to our second Christmas fair. It should be fun. Actually we’re taking the twins so the chances of it being fun have leapt to a cracking 100%
