If you have made a promise to yourself this year to get a little bit more organised while at the same time surround yourself with all the things you find inspirational and lovely then this SUPER SIMPLE inspiration board project may be just for you. You can customize yours to suit your colour scheme and as they are so easy you may find yourself making several.
- Paint the frame of your notice board in your chosen colour. I decided late in the day to paint mine and it was a pain as I had to make sure I didn’t get paint on the fabric. Don’t do this!
- Start by choosing the fabric you would like to cover your notice board with. I chose two contrasting fabrics in fresh Spring colours, pink and green.
- Before you start decorating your notice board decide which way you would like it to hang, I chose to hang my horizontally.
- I measured the length and width of the cork board (just inside the frame) as this will be the area that will be covered in the fabric.
- I halved the height and width and this gave me the measurement for one of the squares.
- I’m now ready to cut my fabric
- However remember when cutting your fabric to add an extra centimeter all the way around for the hem
- Machine all of your hems in place using a small stitch and hemming close to the edge of the fabric.
- Heat your glue gun so that it is good and hot
- Place your first square of fabric onto the board and glue each of the corners in place
- When attaching the other pieces of fabric line all the hems up neatly and as close together as you can make them. No gaps!
- Measure and cut your chosen ribbon and glue in place so that it creates a cross on the board covering where all the fabrics meet in the middle.
- Glue the ric-rac trim in place. Try and get the ric-rac as close to the edge of the inside of the frame as possible as it will create a neater look.
- Trim any ribbon that overhangs the edges
- You’re then free to decorate it as you see fit. Below are some ideas that I used on my board……….
Anything can go up on to your board and sit there as a constant reminder of all the things you currently love and want to create with this season!
Have a wonderful weekend.
I know I will.
Phew, what a week!
Lots of love
