I’d love to have an art collection. I mean, who wouldn’t? I’d search out new artists that I rated and fill my home with collections that would one day become priceless and force me to have a security system that was tougher than Alcatraz to penetrate. But seeing as that isn’t going to be happening this side of the sun coming out I’ve come to realise that to fill spaces on the walls with things that I have created or photos that I have taken is just as good for the time being as purchasing a John Currin
This was the space I wanted to fill and I wanted to fill it with individual pieces of colour.
So I did.
We bought a huge box canvas, painted it and made 16 individual stuffed hearts.
Each heart was embroidered, embellished or appliqued with a different design that was bright, colourful and would fill that huge space above the fireplace in this bedroom.
The hearts were very lightweight due to the stuffing being polyester. This meant that they could be stuck in to place on the canvas using nothing more than a squirt from the hot glue gun.
We added short lengths of stick-on fake pearls and diamonds. This added a wee bit of structure to the canvas.
Various embroidery styles that we’ve been working on make an appearance.
And seeing as it’s still officially February and the Love Month we’ve kept it romantic in parts.
But the S’hrooms had to be there.
And to finish the canvas off we covered the corners with fabric by folding it over and securing at the back.
I would thoroughly recommended having a go at this project as you get to be the artists and create whatever look, feel and colour scheme you like. You can use a tiny canvas that would only hold one or two hearts or have a go at a large one such as this. They make great personalised gifts and are perfect for guest rooms and nurseries…..
……..
…….and I’m all about nurseries right now!
Have a fantastic weekend Love Bugs and I’ll see you back here on Monday when we’ll be as mad as March hares.
WE MADE IT THROUGH JANUARY AND FEBRUARY!!!!
Be proud people, be very, very proud.
