It is Thursday, which means we either entertain or celebrate. Today I’m celebrating, a simple thing but a celebration nonetheless.
Laying on the grass and looking upwards.
I would spend weeks laying on the ground and looking upwards as a child. We didn’t have fancy sunbeds to lay on just towels or big cushions. In fact I remember my mum buying herself a sunbed and the race that took place to grab it as soon as she had vacated it to go and make supper was intense. GOD FORBID that anyone should take the sunbed when Mum had given us PERMISSION to lay on it.
Dear me, that meant hair pulling, biting, scratching and all sorts…..and this behavior was still in existence last summer!
I made the giant cushions with the twins in mind really.
They. Love. Cushions.
I’m not kidding.
They are at the age now when fear of throwing oneself in to something soft does not exist and to see them run (waddle) and fall like a tree trunk, face first, in to these giant soft landing pads is a sight that makes us all so happy our mouths hurt from the grinning.
If anyone had told me how much fun these small people were I would have an Angelina sized brood by now, believe me, and sod the stretch marks.
The gardening gloves and trowel were laid down and a break from planting the Sweet Williams was taken. Jodie and I were due to have a short catch up at the end of the day regarding all that is going on here at the mo and we took it outside, on the ‘twin landing’ cushions, instead of at a desk – desk = bleugh!
In actual fact we got far more covered on those soft seats than if I’d have been in front of my computer as invariably I begin to surf the net and get distracted.
And then, when the working day was over, I took my current book and eventually planted myself face down in the cushions, on the grass.
If two eighteen month old girls get that amount of joy from laying in the grass on a cushion then I want a part of it.
I just need to watch that I don’t insist on going to the pub with them when they are eighteen YEARS old and deriving just as much joy from a very different activity………
I say that but I’m sure Jodie and I will have become experts at following behind them in the car unnoticed and spying on them.
Have a great day folks. If you’re in the UK, as I am, then enjoy the weather. I believe that it’s going to stay pretty nice for most of us over the next week or so and that is GREAT news for Wimbledon. Let’s hope they don’t have to use that fancy new roof.
As you know I have a web re-design taking place right now and all of the recent projects, these cushions, the patchwork seat etc, will be available as free downloads when it’s all up and running.
Till tomorrow morning, when I’ll be back here with another Bake Fest Friday - Something Sweet for the Weekend
