I’ve been using the same jug all summer. We’ve put lemonade in to it, Pimms, iced tea, flowers, EVERYTHING! So when I knew that we had some folks coming over to visit I also knew that the jug would make an appearance and I felt it needed a little makeover.

Here is the plain jug waiting to be given a ‘celebrityjug style’ makeover.

We came up with a ridiculously simple flower pattern (practiced first on a piece of paper) that would repeat itself around the base of the jug and another repeating pattern for around the top of the jug. We didn’t make it complicated but used several bright colours to make it appear a little more fancy than it really is. We popped the jug in to a warm oven for about 45 minutes to set the paints………

….and voila!
This is a really easy project and one that can be done on any type of glass that you may want to accessorise with other pieces of crockery, kitchenware, maxi-dress, denim cut-offs etc.
You can use any type of glass paint but I find that my old faithfuls Liquitex Glossies work the trick every time, although you can’t put anything you’ve painted in to the dishwasher.
Hand painted glassware such as this also makes lovely, lovely gifts if you want to personalise something. The kids love it too and can have their ‘own’ glass that they don’t have to share with anybody else.
It also makes lemonade drunk on the front step on a hot day a great deal sweeter!
