A Love of Budgets and Keeping It Real at Home
I have discovered something. It’s a discovery that I am thrilled to have….er…..discovered.
I LOVE BUDGETING!!!!
Yep, I love it.
My name is Cherry Menlove and I love to budget. Great to meet you!
I’ll explain.
I am working at the moment on a new project that will enable me to expand my website and in order for this to happen I need to apportion money to different places, for different purposes and at different times. I married an accountant (ON PURPOSE) in order to NEVER have to do this sort of thing.
Now, after having to really THINK about all of the different parts that go to make up a budget and a content schedule and how, when it all fits together it can create a domino effect, I have discovered that I love it.
I was in a business meeting yesterday where the budget was being discussed and I was talking about the fact that I really don’t get a thrill from spending money. It doesn’t give me a buzz, I don’t feel like I have to constantly be spending and I tend to stick to basics and essentials. I get my kicks from finding a bargain. From discovering that something isn’t broken and that all it needs is a lick of pale pink paint and it’ll be as good as new, better even!!
Learning to love budgeting was a big step for me. Over the years I have had to learn how money works and that it works for me, not I for it. I have learnt to get over my fear of money and to keep an eye on things (everything). To find other ways, apart from spending, to make myself feel better. I have also realised that to want to earn a good living from the thing you love to do is O.K. It’s alright to be great at something that folk might consider ‘good fun’ and make a decent life for yourself. Who said we all had to work in an office in order to legitimise our working lives? I’m fine in my spare bedroom. Although having said that I am in the process of packing up and moving to another office. I’ll photograph every step of the way and be sure to post it here!
I’m kinda book – ending this post with pictures of real Quail’s eggs. I have the nest and the espresso cup, full of eggs, in my home as an Easter decorative touch. It’s great to bring nature into the home and if you have children I’m sure they’ll be fascinated by all of the wonderful pattens that these short, dumpy birds create on the shells of the eggs they produce.
Have a wonderful weekend. I’m sporting a head – cold and heading off to the spa for a girlie weekend. I think I’ll head straight for the steam room and sweat it out.
Stay safe my lovelies.
