Living Room Table Makeover - 1 - Cherry Menlove

I had been keeping my eyes peeled for a suitable table for the living room for some time. So when I saw this table sitting in a charity shop window, smooth and gentle in its shape, I knew it was the right one. It was hurried in to my car for the grand total of twenty pounds and placed on the driveway at home where we got to work on it.

We began by sanding the top and in so doing releasing it from the dark varnish that had held it captive for so very long.

It was given one coat of undercoat and two coats of paint. A soft grey colour that I knew I wouldn’t mind having in the middle of my room for a good long while.

And here she is……

Welcome to the family, oh soft grey one.

I promise you’ll never have to go back to being a piece of dark furniture again.

EVER.

    Hi,
Can I ask what may be a silly question? What do you use for an undercoat? I’m new to all this DIY stuff and wasn’t sure if you use a specific paint? or something?

I have a dark wood kitchen table that I’d like to paint a light shade, and remembered seeing this one you did.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
