My Entrance Hall at Easter Time

Entrance Hall 1 - Easter 2010

I’ve been fiddling about this week and decorating certain areas of the house for Easter. Starting with the Entrance Hall.

Do you remember how it looked at Christmastime?

Well it’s a lot brighter now thanks to the distinct change in temperature and we’ve even seen the sun shining in through the windows at certain times of the day. Which of course reminds me that after a fairly harsh winter the window panes are in desperate need for a Springtime clean.

Whenever anybody asks me what they can do to lift a room’s spirits or make it look instantly more inviting and slightly glam I always tell them to take a trip to the flower shop or market. Nothing will have more of an effect on a space than vase upon vase, jug upon jug or teacup upon teacup of flowers. And the colours available at this time of year promise to be exquisite.

I decided to go down the teacup route for this windowsill.

Entrance Hall 5 - Easter 2010

I had teacups that were languishing in the cupboard after we had stripped the dresser for Spring and felt a little sorry for them. So they came out again and are now sitting proud and full.

I popped some painted eggs in between the cups.

Well, I’m decorating for Easter after all!

And of course the pre-requisite basket of eggs (I decorated eggs like this for the first time a few years ago) .

As I’ve mentioned we’re entertaining on Easter Monday and the girls (my sister’s twin daughters) are having their first Easter Egg hunt in the garden. I want their first memories of Easter to be full of colour, flowers, family, food and, of course, eggs!

Easter marks the start of a wonderful season of celebrating for me. And this year it’s even more crammed full of events. In no particular order we have several birthdays including my husbands, mine and several other family members. A baby shower. Wedding anniversaries. Bank Holidays. Father’s day. Holidays and the birth of two babies (both mine). And that’s not including all of the wonderful days out that we have planned away from the house and garden. Country Fairs, Flower Shows and the start of the Polo season to name only three!

Wonderful times that create wonderful memories.

Now, I’m off to the flower market again. Like I said, you can NEVER have too many flowers and the moment I realise that I am searching around for old jam jars to put them all in I know I finally have enough.

Have a wonderful weekend

Love, Cherry
