I’m crazy for tables right now. Ever since the table of my dreams was built by my Dad I’ve been obsessed by dressing it with different settings, colour schemes, cloths etc.
I can often be found nipping out in to the paddock with various items from the kitchen or dining room in my hands in order to set them all out on the wood just to see what works and what doesn’t.
This beauty is my Heirloom Midsomer Madness tablecloth. A technicolor giant of a tablecloth that sits like a jewel over the table and can be seen from space (I would like to think)
Dressing a table can be just as fun and creative as dressing any room in the house and has just as many variations available to it. In fact there are two table settings in this one cloth alone. There’s the Midsomer Madness setting that you can see and then there’s the Christmas setting that will be achieved by simply flipping the cloth over and revealing the red cloth that you can can see in the trim as the top.
I’ll have to wait a number of months before I use this cloth in a Christmas setting but to be honest I am so enjoying the Summer right now that the thought of Winter leaves me absolutely freezing not just cold!
You can read the instructions for how to make a tablecloth just like this by clicking here. It’s a fairly big but ultimately simple project that you’ll love if you love to work with huge amounts of colour and fabric.
The instructions will take you through the entire process including how to make the edging of the cloth using a contrasting fabric and the backing.
One thing I noticed we’d achieved subconsciously was a tablecloth that matched the flowers I have planted in the paddock beautifully.
Soft whites and greens……
Pinks, purples and reds….
Explosions of colour…..
Contrasting patterns….
Candy pink & yellow….
Magenta & green…..
And many other shades of all sorts that I assure you make this cloth visible from outer space….I promise…..sorta……I think.
This tablecloth is most definitely of the heirloom variety. A cloth that will be in use year after year and I’m sure will be pulled down off of the table to be used as a prop in some imaginative game that I expect my twins will play some day.
I can only hope that I am there to watch and listen at the door as they play.
Lots of love,
Cherry x
