Oh England, My England

The speed with which it all changes around here amazes me still. I’d started to take the gazebo down but this weekend we have to finish it. I’d say that the Marguerite’s are kinda done for the year also, don’t you think! Hmmmm!

Crunchy underfoot and deliciously cosy. We’ll be out here this weekend trussed up in scarfs and gloves. As will the babies, they join us in most things.

Good morning ‘neigh’bour! Ha! Boom boom!

I apologize, it’s Friday and I’m so happy about this that the cheesy jokes are pouring out of me.

One of two delicious sturdy quince that our tree has produced this year. Next year I expect more and the Quince jam will be flowing like milk and honey.

I picked them and brought them in to my morning kitchen. Watching as the ice melted from the heat of the Aga.

Tomorrow & Sunday, once we have finished being outside, we’ll come in and get all cosy. It is darker earlier in the evenings now and the fairy lights go on. I keep them up all year and can’t resist the light they give off. It makes everyone look beautiful and if we were all naked then none of us would have cellulite!

I’ll also sit here for a bit this weekend, I would expect. Not bothering to plump up the cushions as they are still in the same shape as when I was in them last time. Partaking in my favourite type of reading and being inspired until I’m at bursting point. Why are there a finite amount of meals that one can have in a lifetime? WHY, I ask you, when there is so much good cooking to be done?

Ahem!

We’ll see people this weekend and share stories across the table.

Whilst our arm hairs are singed on the candles.

Annoying yes, but a small price to pay for the sheer romanticism of it all.

I love you and wish you the most ROMANTIC of October weekends. See you on Monday morning.

Right, off to build a fire now and I’ll be Tweeting/facebooking it if I manage it….!

Cherry x

Wow! Looks like you had a hard frost in England. Is that early for your area? Cherry, you made me laugh again. Thanks. I love that you love your life so much.
I think I will now ask my dear hubby to find our “fairy lights.” My daughter Mia always had some strung up in her room when she still lived at home.

I so love your use of Faerie Lights! All over, and keeping them up, all year. -happy sigh- I’ve been doing thus, with Faerie Lights on the mantle… Ever since last Christmas. :-) I’m so proud of myself.

Wishing I had the courage to use them, in so many other spots. -sigh-

Wondering if you have ever done an entry, on all your uses of Faerie Lights? I’d so love to ponder such a post, and take inspiration, from it.

    Happy Late Autumn!

    Gentle hugs…

I’ve had my fairy lights up in my kitchen since last christmas…I love the way they throw out just enough light to let you do things like make a nice cup of tea….so much better than the harsh overhead light, my teenage boys think i’m a mad but I think it makes the room look really cosy, and at this time of years that’s what you need nice and warm and cosy XX

Beautiful photographs. We are packing today for a week in Cornwall, can’t wait, love Autumn and it’s colours and frost and also birthdays. The day has finally arrived and today I am 40. Not alarmed just looking forward, and not feeling 40 at all.. Have a lovely weekend

Ah, Happy Birthday!!!! Forty certainly isn’t like it used to be, is it?. It’s much more like twenty five or thirty. Have a great day and a great week. Cx
