This is the kitchen. It is, without doubt, my favourite kitchen in the world. Certainly the best one I’ve ever lived in, cooked in, eaten in, chatted in and thrown bagels at Robert’s head in.

It has huge windows and a tall ceiling.

And a lovely light and airy feel as well as a fabulous Butler sink.

But it is going to be given a makeover.
Cupboards are going to be removed and open shelving is going to replace them. The section of worktop being taken out is going to go in to the boot room to be re-used as a wash area and a kitchen island on wheels is going to be built.
Brand new cupboards are going to be built by hand and new tiles are going up. The walls are getting a new coat of paint and a brand new table is going to be built.
So who is going to be doing all of this?
Well, I am.
With the help of my Dad….and my brother in law…..and my husband…..
…… and the whole thing is going to be filmed.
*bangs head on desk *
I love you, I’m not certain you’ll love me after you see me trying to throttle my Dad during the process of renovation, but we all have our faults and my Dad is more than used to it.
Have a wonderful weekend and I’ll see you back here on Monday.
As always, thank you so much for reading.
Cherry x

I’m saving to get our kitchen redone too but I’m in a quandry as to how to have it. (Still need to get rid of those AWFUL tiles on my windowsills Clairey)
We seem to have incredibly similar tastes so I can’t wait to see what you do and how you manage it and hopefully puick up some hints, tips and interior design guidance
Good luck, have fun and Robert don’t try to do more than you really should!

It sounds like it’s going to be lovey. We rent as well and have a free reign when it comes to decorating. As long as it’s an improvement, they don’t mind at all. I’m just about to go upstairs to paint my son’s bedroom …. what a way to spend a weekend
I’m looking forward to lots of kitchen inspiration from you! Our kitchen is the original from 1979 and full of dark wood and hideous tiles. I’m saving up for a big re-do including knocking down walls so I look forward to seeing some DIY kitchen ideas! Good luck and thank you for sharing it with us.
Oh I love the orange Aga, look forward to see the post- picture.
Excited to see what you have in store for us. As always, you inspire
It´s a huge project!!! I had my kitchen remodeled 5 years ago and it was terrible but well worth it. Good luck with it.
Today is a very important day in Mexico, it´s Independence Day so: ¡Viva Mexico! and a lovely weekend to you and Robert. Hope he is feeling better.
Oh this sounds very exciting – looking forward to seeing you in action organising the men!

oooh what a super big kitchen, can see why you love it….cant wait to see it finished…..loving the highchairs at the table, I did that with my daughter and son, sat them right up to the table so they felt part of each meal….lovely!
I’m tackling the spare room this weekend, but off for a night away with hubby as we had our 27th wedding anniversary last week.. seems like only yesterday!
have a great weekend everyone, and as always love to you Cherry, Robert, the cutie twins and all the family xxxxxx
Can’t wait to see the results Cherry. Lots of luck. xx
Am now eagerly awaiting the filming of your latest challenge. Sounds like it’ll be lovely when it’s finished. I’m off now to decorate my sons racing car birthday cake. I’ve never made a non cake shaped cake before so this should be interesting. I have a house full of 3 & 4 year olds tomorrow, wish me luck please.
Have a lovely weekend xx
Good luck! Let us know how it goes, it’ll be great. Cx
This sounds like fun! I’m looking forward to reading and looking at the progress and finished result – will that include the photos at Emerg??
I have the ungliest kitchen I think and am hoping that VERY soon a reno will be in my future. As a side note, I just finished a cheese wedding cake this morning – it turned out really neat with layers of raclette, stilton mango ginger, drunken goat and a wonderful brie from one of our Ontario artisinal cheese makers! Have a great weekend Cherry!
Having visited both your old kitchen and the new one I understand exactly why you love this one. It FEELS better. It’s light, warm , welcoming and friendly, like you.
Can’t wait to see the new kitchen next month – I know you guys will do a fantastic job! Hope all is well, miss you all. xx
Oh, it’s going to be so exciting and I’m along for the journey!!!! XO Joann
When you’re finished at your end, can you pop across the pond with your “crew” and knock heck out of mine?!
Good Morning! Cherry, I’m so looking forward to your kitchen makeover. I’m especially looking forward to seeing your rolling island. I miss the island from your previous home, it was a beauty! This is going to be fun!
By the way, your blog’s feed is located in the center of my homepage so I can see your posts when I log onto the internet first thing in the morning. It feels as if I’m sharing a cup of tea with a good friend before I start my day.
Have a great weekend!

I’m jealous! We’re currently mid-way through decorating our hall, stairs and landing but it’s not easy trying to work around two children – how do you do it?! x
How exciting! Can’t wait to see the transformation. Do you think your DIY team will be taking bookings as our kitchen could do with some ‘adjustments’ shall we say!
The video sounds like great fun too – particularly cos I know you’ll share the bloopers as well as the useful bits.
) Looking forward to it already.
Have a lovely weekend. Bex.xx
I was already thinking, these kitchen cabinets are way too contemporary for our Cherry. So I was starting to get worried when you said it was your favourite kitchen, ever.
Now I realise it’s your favourite, because of the space, sink and layout and not the cabinet doors. Pfewww !
You know me well. Cx
Our kitchen plans are quite similar. The only thing I need now is a wee red AGA
Good luck and if you need tips or plans for islands and whatnots, you know where you can find me. xox Y
Dude, you’re building the island on wheels. You or Bo!!
Brilliant, can’t wait to see how it looks. I’ve been wanting to paint my kitchen cupboards to update my tired kitchen but am to scared incase i mess it up, then it starts to get expensive having to go out and buy new doors, so will be really interesting to see what your finished kitchen will look like, i’m sure its going to look fab.
cant wait to see it !!!!. have fun and tell your dad good luck for us ( haha) have a great weekend.
wow! that is brave. Not only to do it yourselves, but to film it too!!!
Lots and lots of luck with it. You are braver than me!

Hi Cherry,
Sounds as though its going to be Fabulous! You have quite a challenge ahead of you!
I was wondering how you manage to have such a free reign in a rented house? I have had to go back into a rented house after a seperation. Its a lovely old cottage but I would love to make some changes, how do you talk the owner of these houses into letting you do such major changes? I would love some tips! I’m desperate to change our worktops!lol
Hugs, Jennifer x
Hello! I asked my landlord and got his permission. He’s super cool but also knows that I’m turning the kitchen back to the way he had it originally so I think he very much appreciates that. Cx
I was wondering that too, nicely done Cherry, sounds like it’s going to wonderful. Unfortunately our landlord isn’t as cool, we have a beautiful big kitchen with very little storage, it could be so much better, grr! Ah well, hopefully a house we can afford to buy will come up in our village and then we can do what we like.
Your Aga is stunning, sigh!
Good luck with all that Cherry! I’ll watch with glee!
