Hello!
Would you like to see my new space?

Just outside of the Living Room sits this fabulous decking area. The house is quite high off the ground so this serves as a wonderful area to sit and look out over the garden. Especially at nighttime and early in the morning. I love those times of the day on the terrace.

This was the terrace in June.

I gave it a quick wash with the jet hose and brought the wood back to a bare state.

Doing this raised the grain of the wood so before painting it I rubbed it down smooth with sandpaper.

And then it was painted. I used Cuprinol, Garden Shades in ‘Country Cream‘. This shade matches the house perfectly and throws light in to the Living Room. With it being lighter in colour it also offers me the chance to decorate it with various tablecloths that I own and use my wee bistro set to sit and have tea.

I love its airiness. An airiness that I hope it will take right through all of the seasons. I can adorn the steps with Pumpkins when October arrives and light it when Christmas is upon us.

But for now I have pale blue and pink in pots and flowers I grew myself in vases.

I also grew the mint for the tea myself and have it sitting in a fabulous trough that I made with my Dad. I’ll have to upload the instructions here soon.
This space is an extension of the garden and of the house and calls out to be sat in.
Robert put a stair gate up to catch any wayward children and this means they get to enjoy it also. I throw blankets and cushions out on to it so that it becomes more of a soft play area for them and in the evening before their bed they scramble up on to my knee as I chill in the deckchair.

My favourite time on the terrace?
The evening.
In the soft light.
And the quiet.

As the sun descends behind the houses in the hamlet in which we live.
A little slice of heaven turning in for the night.
And throwing down the last rays of the setting sun before the door is locked and the curtains are closed.
Have a WONDERFUL week, folks. I love you and thank you so much for reading.
Cherry x

What a charming little place! You did a beautiful makeover with the paint. It’s just adorable. What a cozy spot for you and your family to enjoy time with each other.
Simply beautiful!
Are you going to upload instructions for how you made the trough with your dad? I’d love to see these. Not like i’m a carpenter but i’d love to have a go. I loved the trugs he made you and would love to see if there is any way i could make something similar. Just need a helping hand with how to do it!! Thanks for the ideas.

Wow, what a great transformation Cherry! I’ve been following your blog for a while, and am always amazed by your eye for renewing items and your style of decorating. You have so much creative talent, and a beautiful family! I’m English, but now living in the mountains in California. I love to visit a little bit of England in your blog, and get ideas for adding some british charm to my home and garden through your projects and pics
You did a really beautiful job! The perfect spot to watch both the sunrise and the sunset. The color you chose is absolutely beautiful. Love it!!

Prettiest deck I’ve seen all summer!♥♫
You make it look so easy! Just a few photos displayed, but surely this project took you quite a while with all the sanding and painting? I’m impressed at how you just take it in stride. You’re I-can-do-anything attitude is inspiring. So glad you and your family are doing well!
Such Inspiration, we are in a rented house and just starting to figure out non permanent solutions to having a beautiful garden, with our 2nd child on the way I am finding it difficult to find time and energy, but I love your blog and you fill me with hope that one day it will get done.
What a gorgeous space. I love how you can dress it up with the change of seasons. Can’t wait to see that!
Great job Cherry! This deck is charming. I would love to sit and have tea there and watch the sunset. Enjoy : )

that’s a lovely space to sit. Be gorgeous in the autumn when the air crisp with a cup of hot choccy and a blanket to snuggle with.
cheered me up. school starts again on Wednesday, and while girly girl is excited, I’m feeling a bit glum. I’ll miss my little partner in crime
have a lovely Monday x
It’s lovely Cherry, it looks like the perfect place to sit and relax with a cuppa and a slice of homemade cake
We’re working towards our ‘chill out’ seating area in the garden. I can’t wait for it be done so I can sit out on the evenings, listening the water trickle over the stones. Just hope it’s done before winter comes!
Cherry,
I love the way your posts are so matter of fact as if you knocked this up in a spare ten minutes, when actually I expect that took a good many hours of hard work! It looks beautiful – so different to before. Let’s hope summer extends long into September so you get to enjoy it.
This is so beautiful…I love it! Now that holidays are over I can get started on the house again, having the kids at home for 6 weeks kind of precludes any sort of diy because they also want to get stuck in. And things might get interesting if I give my autistic son a paint brush and paint…….
Cherry it looks great !!!! but less face it any project you do turns out perfect . hope family is well take care
