So many people use their homes as part of their business nowadays. Whether it be a simple desk in the corner of a bedroom or a home office in the garden shed. I’m one of those people and today’s post charts the makeover of a room at the side of our house, just next to the kitchen, that is now a baking studio attached to the classes taught at the Picket Fence Baking school.

This is how the room looked in October of last year. Not great you gotta admit. It wasn’t making anyone who passed by it feel good at all and had become a dumping ground after we had moved in in April. But Robert and I did some measuring and we worked out that it could actually become a very useful space.

Over the next couple of months, with the help of family, we cleared the room.
We sanded the floors.

We worked at all times of day and night to paint the floors. This picture was taken at 05.57 on the 10th of December. We pulled some early mornings before Christmas but it was fun. Just Robert and I hanging out before the kids got up.

And then my parents offered to give us two whole days where we would do nothing but paint walls, build scalloped pelmets and generally give us a huge head start on the room being almost ready. I had North Pole radio blasting out Christmas hits for most of the day and then we stopped and had a huge piece of venison so the day wasn’t all work.

And then I moved in and decorated.

And pottered.

And fiddled.

And tweaked.

And made it mine.

And imagined people baking, decorating cakes and learning so much that they could hardly stand all the knowledge bustling around their heads.
And my dream came true.
I hope to see some of you here soon.
i love you, have a wonderful day
Cherry x

a big fan.
I absolutely love the room! I like to use white when I decorate. How do you keep the white painted floorboards clean? I’d love to have this in my house, I have floorboards but varnished them as felt white would be hardwork to keep clean. Any advice?
so, so pretty. And very ‘you’.
