If you don’t follow me on Facebook or Twitter (links below) you’ll not know that yesterday our mortgage was approved by the bank. After spending TWO MONTHS making up their minds (bit of a backlog apparently, although that didn’t help our state of mind while waiting) Robert called me from work yesterday to say they had approved it.
So, because I’ve been awake since four thirty unable to sleep due to being a little bit excited I thought I deserved to be able to show you some pictures of my OUR new garden.

I think it’s great to see a place at this time of year, when it’s dull and the trees are bare, because it can only get BETTER. Just wait till those trees are full of green and we can sit in their shade. There is a brook that divides our back garden from the field next door on one side and a row of Laurel hedging, my favorite because it is evergreen and glossy, on the other.

There’s the Laurel. The sun will go down behind the downs.

So many plans for this terrace area.

And this bed. I’ll wait and see what comes up in the first year of us living there before ripping anything down or out but I know that I won’t be able to resist planting some of my own stuff too.

Now this I am ecstatic about. I was going to plant a Eucalyptus tree because I love their foliage and the colour of their leaves so much. If you have a Eucalyptus tree in your garden you never have to buy another Christmas wreath again.

We’ll leave this patch of grass alone but that flower bed. I’m seeing Dahlias, Roses, Salvia, Hydrangeas and SO MUCH MORE!!!
Need to stop now. Feeling a bit sick with excitement. Hasn’t sunk in. What have we done to deserve this house. I want to share it. I want it to be open. I want it to be a place of safety and of hope. Where dreams can be formed and take flight from.
And it will be. Because that dream is in mine and Robert’s hands.
And we won’t fail.
I love you and thank you so much. NOW the fun begins.

I love them too. They are what life is all about. Sharing in each others joys and sadnesses. You will be greatly blessed in this new place. Your physical horizons stretch for miles. So do your spiritual ones. God bless you.
Congratulations Cherry. They should call you “The transformer of all things dull”. What is a barren winter landscape right now, will be a haven of all things beautiful next year and the year after that , even better. What joy. Well done.

What a fabulous patch you have there Cherry – views, and privacy and a bit of everything – trees, hedging, water, lawn, beds and terrace – the possibilities are endless. I can see many happy years of pottering here for you. You must be so relieved. Now you just have to get the move out of the way and you can get stuck in!
Take care, Bex.x

And did you know that Eucalyptus tree leaves and bark make a beautiful natural dye on silk and natural fibers! Good luck with your new adventures – I look forward to reading all about them.
Thank you for sharing.

It’s all so exciting Cherry! I can just imagine those beds overflowing with summer blooms! Yay for the Eucalypt! or Gum tree, the common garden name here in Aus. Can’t wait to see what pops up in those beds come spring.
This home is what you all deserve!

So exciting, I bet you just can’t wait!
I’m so happy for you and Robert and the kids. There’s nothing as good as owning a house as you can turn it into your own little paradise. I also can’t wait to see what you are going to do to the place, I bet it’s going to be amazing. x
I can understand your excitement! Particularly about the Eucalyptus tree, that’s something I’ve always wanted but not planted. Only because I know they can get pretty large, and in truth it would swamp our garden. Or I’d have one like a shot.
I am so pleased for you. It’s nice to know somewhere is ‘yours’, especially when you have children.
Your garden is going to look fabulous once you’ve sprinkled it with Cherry magic.
x
p.s you made the front cover of the Sainsburys magazine! x
